Coral Cutters

Coral cutters are useful in cutting SPS frags. You can spend a lot of money on a nice one, but we usually buy the cheap $1.00 ones at the Dollar store since they are going to rust anyway.

Even the stainless steel ones seem to rust eventually in the caustic salt environment. So for us, it makes more sense to buy the cheapest ones we can find, and then retire them when they are too rusty to open.

But to prolong their use, when you first buy a pair of cutters, you can spray them with a non-petroleum based spray like cooking spray. we spray a lot of things that rust with this, and it seems to work well in slowing down rust.

Now we are not guaranteeing that its safe to use this spray on tools, but we have had success with it. But we do have huge systems, so any small residues that get into our system are heavily diluted. I am not sure you would want to use it on a nano tank without great precautions. So try this at your own risk@
