Clams

Saltwater clams are one of the great success stories in aquaculture. Most of the clams that are available to aquarium hobbyists were grown in the South Pacific by clam farming operations.

Most of the clams available are from the genus Tridacna sp.

Clams are more difficult to keep than most soft corals. They have much higher lighting requirements than many corals.

As a beginner, you should probably wait on buying a clam until you have experience managing such parameters as calcium, alkalinity, and have really high quality intense lighting.
