Chlorine Removers
Chlorine removers chemically react with dangerous chlorine
in tap water, making the chlorine harmless.
Chlorine removers are necessary only if you're using tap
water to mix up your saltwater. We strongly don't recommend
using tap water usless you know for certain that your water
quality is perfect.
If you are using Reverse Osmosis (RO), which we strongly
recommend, then you wont need to use chlorine removes since
RO removes the chlorine during filtration. Actually the chlorine
is removed by the Carbon prefilter in an RO unit, since chlorine
will destroy the actual RO membrane.
Nevertheless it's good to have come of this on hand in case
of emergencies. Also some of chlorine removers have a compound
included in it called stress coat, which supposedly helps
maintain the mucous coating on the outside of fish.
Its
important to test for Chlorine after its removed, and also
when testing Carbon filters on an RO unit.
Tests such as the quick tip can accurately tell you if you
have any residual chlorine left.
