Pumps- closed loop. An external pump moves large volumes of water in the tank. Both input and output and plumbed through the wall of the aquarium. Water is moved directly through the pump, with minimal plumbing. Motorized ball valves and switching devices can divert the water flow through multiple returns creating random water flow patterns, which is beneficialto corals and mimics nature. Because of the high suction at the intake, the intake screen should be oversized to eliminate the possiblity of livestock being sucked up to the screen. The screen should be cleaned frequently.
